Comminity Vegetable Garden.

The Mātauranga Childcare Centre’s community vegetable garden is now up and running.

Thank you to all the families who volunteered their time to help build this wonderful community garden. The children are enjoying watering and weeding the garden daily and we cannot wait to share our beautiful vegetables and fruit with the community.

What is a community garden?

A community garden is a shared partnership between the early childhood setting and the wider community. The collaborative group cares for and maintains the garden. The community are welcome to take fruit or vegetables from the garden, however we ask that you please replace the vegetables and fruit with a new plant so the cycle continues.

Welcome Ryan and Whanau!

Welcome Ryan Lowe!

Our whānua at Mātauranga Childcare Centre would like to welcome 3 year old Ryan Lowe and his parents Stan and Ava to the centre. Ryan has moved to Havelock North from Christchurch to begin a new chapter in his life.

Ryan is very interested in animals, rugby and swimming.

Welcome Ryan, we are very excited to get to know you and your whānau!

Internet Safety and Posting Feedback

Net safety is essential for the well-being and safety of the children within the early childhood setting. At Mātauranga Childcare Centre the teaching team have ensured the safety of your children. This means we have had professional leaders of ICT come into the centre to set up the blog effectively, which includes policies and producers surrounding the use of the internet within the centre setting. The ICT team have also place in place fire walls, therefore the children cannot be exposed to inappropriate materials while on the centre computer. As many of our parents/caregivers know we will be asking for your permission before we place any photos or learning stories of your children onto the centre blog. The purpose of this blog is to enhance, extend and build relationships with children, families, whanau and the wider community, therefore strengthen and facilitating reciprocal and responsive relationships. Please feel free to leave any feedback on blog postings, if you are unsure how to do this please ask a Maddie or myself and we can set up an ICT session to show parents how to use the blog.

Mātauranga Childcare Centre has been working together with parents/caregivers and whānau to create a blog which helps connect our early childhood centre with families and whānau all around the world.

Please feel free to leave comments and suggestions in the comment boxes below, as every suggestion and idea helps the teaching team to learn and further their ICT skills, therefore creating positive change to the blog.

The aim of the blog is to help build positive and collaborative relationships with each child, their parents/caregivers and their wider whānau. The blog allows family to be a part of the early childhood setting wherever they may be.
